User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) Build Identifier: 184.108.40.206 My newly installed Firefox 220.127.116.11 has frozen several times, and the only common event has been that the download manager has been in focus at the time (either downloading or completed downloading). After the freeze the Task Manager is unable to terminate any Firefox processes, giving the message: "This program cannot be closed. If it is being debugged, please resume it or close the debugger first." No further Firefox instanses can be started. The only way to recover is to log out from windows, which takes several minutes before an error is received for XPCOM:EventReceiver. Ending that process usually allows windows to log out. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download any files 2. Clicking on download location in Download Manager Actual Results: Sometimes the freeze occurs when clicking on "open file" after download is complete, sometimes when clicking on the download location and sometimes without clicking enything. Expected Results: Opened the downloaded file, the download location or just completed downloading the file.
Cleaning up your download manager or deleting the file downloads.rdf in your profile might help. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files
Try reinstalling Firefox 2 and downloading a small file as a test. It could be an error that occurred during installation or corruption of the download manager files.
