User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3

After running Firefox for a few days and accessing a few flash sites (YouTube, any other video/audio streaming site) it usually starts hemorrhaging memory (up to 600MB real and 1.55G virtual memory used).

When you try to close Firefox, it shows up with 17 threads in Activity Monitor (Mac App). After a few minutes it's marked as "non reponsive", goes down to 15 threads but stays at same 600MB/1.55G virtual mem.

Sampling it results in the attached call graph, with 2 threads deadlocked.

I have Flash 9.0 plugin installed (Shockwave Flash 9.0 r28).

Firefox never exits and needs to be killed off (kill -9).

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Firefox, use multiple tabs with javascript (gmail, corp. gmail, calendar)
2. Use some flash sites (you tube, etc). open/close those windows often
3. wait for firefox to leak memory overy 1G, close it.

Actual Results:
Firefox never quits

Expected Results:
Firefox should quit. Probably shouldn't leak memory either, but that's a different story and may be the fault of extensions.

Shows a problem in same Flash plugin
this time loaded Google Finance (heavy on Flash animation) and tried to exit.

Does the current Flash Player 9 release (version 9.0.45) exhibit the same problem? It can be downloaded from here: www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

We will also investigate the bug in-house. Thanks for the bug report.
downloading and installing the Flash 9.0.45 update, will let you know how it goes. give me a few days of use.
thanks for looking into this.
Sorry to disappoint you, but i was able to reproduce the same problem.
After using FF for a day, visiting a few flash sites (YouTube, Google Finance) and shutting it down, got a deadlock again.
see the new stacktrace, but it looks similar.
just in case you need another example: this wasn't on exit, i just tried opening a new tab.

any idea where i can get FF 1.0 bins? that used to run much better :)
This should now be fixed in the Flash Player 9 beta:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer9/
I've been using Flash 9.0r60 and Mac-optimized FF (2.0.0.8) and it seems to work fine. sorry i haven't closed this out earlier
