Details
(Whiteboard: [closeme 2011-06-19])
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070310 Iceweasel/2.0.0.3 (Debian-2.0.0.3-1)
Build Identifier: Firefox 1.5.x.x through 2.0.0.3
We have noticed a problem printing to any of our IBM InfoPrint printers. So far, it has been tried on an 1120, 1332, and 1532. This is using the postscript drivers for the printer.
What happens is this: We go to print a page which is generated by our internal domino server, but what comes out on the printer is the page with sections of data missing from the printout.
I narrowed the problem down to Mozilla and the use of IBM postscript drivers with the following tests:
1) If I print to other (non-IBM) printers as postscript, it works fine.
2) If I change the driver to PCL, it works fine.
3) If I print from IE with the postscript drivers, it works fine.
Now, here's the interesting part.
After getting the report and a confirmation, I pulled up Firefox on a system that had not been updated in a long, long time. It was running Firefox 1.0.2. It printed FINE with the postscript IBM drivers. So, then I upgraded Firefox to the same 1.5.0.10 that the user was using and it began failing! Only change I made was upgrading firefox. So, then I took firefox up to 2.0.0.3 - Problem was still there. So then, just a moment ago (April 19, 2007), I downloaded the "daily build" for firefox(minefield) and tried that. Now, suddenly, the data is all back in there, but the fonts are pretty funky. (big letters all jammed together)
So, it looks like something is currently being worked on that will fix the problem, but isn't quite there.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log into our Domino server.
2. Select a document.
3. Select File -> Print to print the document
Unfortunately, I cannot give a URL to a document due to the documents in that system being "company confidential". Because of this, I'm really not sure how to facilitate someone being able to examine the problem.
Actual Results:
When you print with Firefox 1.5 or higher (other than the daily build) certain areas of the document are completely blank. If you print the same document with the same print drivers on Firefox 1.0.2, it works great.
Expected Results:
All the data on the printed out page and in the same font size and layout as seen on the screen.
This was tried across multiple systems and multiple users with different profiles. Results were consistent. Problem has only manifested on Windows based systems.

reporter, does this still fail when using Firefox 5 *beta* http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/channel/ or Firefox 4?

Hi. Forgot this bug was even out there. As best I can tell, nobody is complaining about it running Firefox 3.5.xx, so I assume the problem was fixed at some point.
Thanks for checking back!

('worksforme' is probably the best resolution then, rather than 'fixed', since we don't know what fixed it)
