Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3
After installing BlockSite I started receiving the following error an all three PCs I installed it on"
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete."
Even when I increased the dom.max_script_run_time the error still occurred. After uninstalling BlockSite the error went away.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install BlockSite.
2. Goto www.m-w.com
3.
Actual Results:
Error box popped up stating:
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete."
Expected Results:
Web page should have loaded without any problems.

“Well then”, was this tested and the code stepped through to make sure it is an extension problem? Kind of a quick response, I seriously doubt it. It is quite possible that a line in FireFox is causing the problem or FireFox is not handling an exception properly.
Using “Well then” is known to be a snide remark and really makes me want to continue using FireFox. Great customer support---NOT!

Sorry if comment 1 came across snide, it wasn't my intention.
But you say "After installing BlockSite I started receiving the following error an all three PCs I installed it on <snip>" which points pretty much it to being a problem due to the extension, and not firefox.
Extensions can (and do!) cause all sorts of problems, and if an extension /is/ causing a problem, then you should inform the extension's author initially.
But I'll leave this bug UNCONFIRMED so another triager can give their opinion.

I understand about the problems and headaches of third part software. I'm a developer and deal with it pretty often, but there are times in the software I develop where the third part software is doing things correctly and it's my software that's mishandling a valid exception. So, reporting this but to both would make the issue be resolved sooner. This bug will be reported to the maker of BlockSite. Thanks.

Summary: SiteBlock - Takes a long time to load web page and script error occurs → BlockSite - Takes a long time to load web page and script error occurs
Version: unspecified → 2.0 Branch
Works for me: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3
BlockSite 0.5.2.2
I chose the whitelist option, and put only http://www.m-w.com/ in. It just told me that there are blocked sites, and that was it. (It was blocking the Google Analytics script)
Notes:
- If the problem only manifests with the extension installed, it would be considered an extension bug (and therefore should go to wherever the extension author keeps track of such things - they probably don't read bugzilla.mozilla.org)
- More detailed steps to reproduce is necessary - for example, what sites are you black/white listing?
- This might be due to some interaction between extensions - is this with a clean profile with only BlockSite installed?
- Oh, right, bugzilla isn't supposed to be a support forum either :)

Author notified.
>> More detailed steps to reproduce is necessary
Only porn sites are on black list.
>> This might be due to some interaction between extensions
Only the default Google tool bar was installed.
>> Oh, right, bugzilla isn't supposed to be a support forum either
So, we don't report bugs to get support for the product? Hmmmm...ok this is taking to much of my time. I'm out of here.

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME
