My bet is on bug 37821. Replacing <select> with <noselect> in the page makes it not crash. (Bug 37821 = editor crashes with any <select> tags. Something else must be happening here to cause the browser to crash as well if this is actually a dup/form of that bug, because other pages with dropdown lists don't crash.)

Perhaps. This bug didn't exist in M15. I'm running today's Linux build (2000050215), and it seems to have the problem as well.

if it is the select problem it should clear when bug 36558 is fixed. I think fixes for that are goin in today. Will check back on this tomorrow and investigate further if it is not working.
This page worksforme with 050908 build under 98 and NT. Marking WORKSFORME. Ray, if you still see this with builds from 5/9 or later please re-open. Thank you for your help in testing Mozilla and reporting bugs.
