I get firefox from Ubuntu egdy offical repositories.
I think it is very hard to change or add an wikipedia search engine corresponding with my native langage.
This is interesting because wikipedia search engine just limit its search on english item, then i can not get a french entry.
For instance wikipendia (in english) search engine is provided as default but i want to add the same agent but in french. Firefox does not provided a simple way to make it done.
Each time i visit the french add engine page [1] i only get american localized engine ( but the navigation link are set in french...).
i used the following prefered langage [fr][fr-FR][en][en-US] but i try with just [fr][fr-FR] as reprefered langage. My firefox interface is in french.
I arrived to get the french wikipedia engine, i can not realy explain how. it seems i have to have only one firefox window open ... then i remove the both wikipedia engines to reproduce how it and know i can not remerber how i made it.

The add engine page should refer to
http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.html
as it did formerly. The current state makes add-search-engine-life more easier for 300.000.000 people and add-search-engine-life nearly impossible for 6.200.000.000 people.
I see 20 reasons to switch back immediately to the old behaviour

It's a different website - not all the search plugins from MyCroft were copied
over. That has to be done by the *authors* of those search engines (and they
need to be reviewed to weed out duplicates and such)

We are pointing to mycroft in the new design, and we have plenty more search engines now, so I'll call this fixed.

I'm not complaining - I've got used to the status quo but I'm struggling to see the change...
browser.search.searchEnginesURL
points to:
https://%LOCALE%.add-ons.mozilla.com/%LOCALE%/firefox/%VERSION%/search-engines/
ie https://en-us.add-ons.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.7a1pre/search-engines/
redirects to:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:4/cat:all?sort=name
where I see no link to Mycroft. Unless I go up to Categories... Search Tools... where I do find the link and beltzner's gracious thanks to but I thought that was the position when this bug was opened?
Have I missed something / is it because I'm running minefield / did you mean something entirely different?

well, at least I am able to find some international search engines, which was totally impossible with the former version.
But indeed mycroft is far better, i.e.
- It shows you the top ten first
- It allows you to select the wanted language
- The categories leads you immediately to your favourite engine.
Overall it's much simpler to use (almost like the google start site) as the currently presented site.
But INMO it could not be called a "bug"...

I realise it's poor form to reopen a verified fixed bug but having had no answer to c#8 it doesn't seem unreasonable. Please explain before resolving...

I think we should change the redirect to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:4 which would give people a listing of categories as well as the link to mycroft. Nick - any objection?

Thanks for filing this. In an effort to not drown in existing reports we're aggressively closing old enhancements and bugs to get the buglist to a reasonable level so we can scope and process bug sprints in an effective manner.
Patches for this bug are still welcome.
