Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.0 (20070326)

For personalized downloads we send mails containing FTP URL. Download should happen after clicking the link. Starting with Thunderbird 2.0.0.0, nothing happens after the click. It worked with the previous version.
Thunderbird 3 (nightly build): same problem, also with clean profile.
SeaMonkey (nightly build): works!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Rightclick and "save link target" works as a workaround.
WFM on Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9a5pre) Gecko/20070428 Thunderbird/3.0a1 ID:2007042803 [cairo]

Do you possibly get anything in the Error Console?
Sorry, I had a wrong test link. ftp links like
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/thunderbird-3.0a1.en-US.linux-i686.tar.bz2

aren't clickable (not autolinked) on trunk it seems. But that sounds like another bug.

Confirmed on Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4pre) Gecko/20070427 Thunderbird/2.0.0.4pre ID:2007042703

No, nothing appears in the error console.

so, it doesn't work if FF 2.0.0.3 is the default browser?
What about trunk?
Is firefox already running when it doesn't work?
At least for me ff is default, doesn't matter if ff is running or not. Does this link do anything for you? ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/thunderbird-3.0a1pre.en-US.linux-i686.tar.bz2
focus goes to firefox and opens download manager

FF 2.0.0.3 is the default browser. It makes no difference if it is running or not.
Klaus: have you tried resetting the default browser (set some other browser in between perhaps)?

Sorry, the bug has disappeared ;-)
Tested for .txt (displayed), .htm (displayed), .tar (downloaded) files.
The default browser may have been resetted in the meantime. I cannot tell after that long time. Present versions are firefox 2.0.0.12 and thunderbird 2.0.0.12.
Thank you for taking care of the case. I think we can close it.
