I can confirm this using the same build as comment 0. Gabe, can you look for a regression range to see when this broke?

I'm not sure where to send this... Core::Plugins? Anyway, confirming.

This also happens in Windows XP.

Note that you can select the search bar fine, but not the location bar.

STR:
 1. Go to http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
 2. Click on "Verify Installation"
 3. Try and click in the location bar
Tested with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a5pre) Gecko/20070428 Minefield/3.0a5pre

Regression on 20 Feb 2007: http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvsquery.cgi?module=PhoenixTinderbox&date=explicit&mindate=1172000040&maxdate=1172001659
which points to bug 261074.

Oliver, can you take a look at this? There are also other real world cases and if I'm afraid we need to back out the original fix unless you can find a solution to this problem quickly.
be nice too have this bug fixed before alpha 6 and differently needs fixing before the beta otherwise many dupes are probably gonna popup
I backed out the patch of bug 261074 until a patch without this regression is created.
