User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.11) Gecko/20070312 Firefox/1.5.0.11
Build Identifier: Bugzilla 2.22
The current display makes it awkward to view the bug number and description/comments at the same time on a typical PC screen. Either include the bug number along with each comment, move the description/comments closer to the top of the screen where other bug details are found, or lock/fix the "header" section of the screen so that as the user scrolls down the page, the bug number and summary remain fixed at the top of the page.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open an existing bug in Bugzilla.
2. Scroll down the page to the description/comments.
3. There is no way to view the associated bug number without scrolling back to the top of the screen.
Actual Results:
I can no longer see the current bug number anywhere on the screen without scrolling back to the top of the page.
Expected Results:
It would be helpful if the bug number were included with the description/comments, or the header information for the bug (bug number and summary) remained fixed at the top of the screen as the user scrolls down the screen.
There are multiple ways to resolve this problem. Any one of the suggestions would be a perfectly reasonable way to fix this bug.
NOTE: Our office reviews individual bugs on a routine basis on a laptop projected onto a projection screen. It is very hard to recall the bug number each time, when reviewing the details of a large number of bugs over a given period of time. This feature will save numerous keystrokes.

It would be helpful if the Bug number were displayed along with the text in the description and comment fields. I have attached a screen shot of the text for this bug to demonstrate. It would just make it easier for reviewing a large number of bugs if the bug number were included in the header section of the description/comments.
If, after reviewing this screen shot, you feel that this is not a critical feature to implement then feel free to close this ticket.

As I said, the bug number appears in the title of the bug, i.e your browser displays it all the time in the window decoration.

It would help if you could specify under which circumstances!

07MAY07 - The following steps were taken which resulted in the Bug ID not being displayed in the title bar of the browser:
(1) The General Preferences were set to: After changing a bug, show the updated bug.
(2) Go to the Bugzilla Ticket.
(3) Select a Saved Search.
(4) Click on the ID of a specific search.
(5) Make a change to the current ticket.
(6) Click the Commit button.
(7) The Bugzilla ID and description will no longer appear in the title bar of the browser.
This is how our team reviews close to 100 open Bugzilla tickets in a conference room using a projector. If the Bugzilla ticket ID does not appear on the screen as we review the description of the bug, it makes for a lot of scrolling back and forth between the comments and the top of the screen where the Bug ID is found. This appears to only happen when you save changes to the previous bug being reviewed.

This has been fixed in Bugzilla 3.0, see bug 290288. We won't backport it to the Bugzilla 2.22 branch, which is now restricted to security bugs. Feel free to apply the patch to your installation though.
