Does the same thing happen if you make a new firefox profile? - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manager (Note: Don't delete your existing profile!)

Please test with the current 2.0.0.3 Firefox release if this still happens for you. 1.5.0.x support will be end soon. Also use the original version from Mozilla and not a distribution specific. If the crash still occurs try to get a talkback id: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback
