Build Identifier: 2.0.0.0
The Go Forward and Back menus (and shortcuts "[" and "]") do not work. This is true irrespective of whether you are looking at a filtered list on simply in your inbox.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Thunderbird
2.Open a message in middle of list
3.Using menu Go | Forward (wont work)
4.Using menu Go | Backward (wont work)
5.Using keyboard: "]" Forward (wont work)
6.Using keyboard: "[" Backward (wont work)
Actual Results:
Nothing ... it's wont work, it never works
Expected Results:
The mail message displayed should advance or regress (depending on selected direction).

back and forward are like the browser back and forward. You have to go somewhere for them to be enabled, just like you have to navigate from the start page in the browser in order for the back button to get enabled. In your steps to reproduce, you've selected one message. Thus, there's no where to go back to.

Thanks for the incredibly quick response David.
I see your point, however I don't agree that this approach is unintuitive - not to mention the fact that it favours individuals that view all messages in one window.
I also note that the Back and Forward functions don't even work as you've described they should (ie, if I've bounced around several messages, the back and forward still do nothing).

if you mean that feature doesn't help you if you open each message in a separate window, you're right. Same thing if you opened each browser link in a new window...
The forward and back buttons work for me, so you'll have to give a bit more detail about what you're doing and what doesn't work...

The forward buttons used to take you to the next message in the previous version of Thunderbird. Now that i have installed the newest version they no longer work. I prefer the way they worked in the previous version. Easier to navigate through my new messages in the old version.
