The user should be able to have their events be translucent. I mean that the user should have the ability to have translucent events and be able to choose if they want to turn the feature off.

The new iCal for the upcoming release of MacOSX will have this feature. An example is attached to this report.
What exactly is the feature? What does a translucent event mean?
I don't see the gain for us, because we never overlap event boxes. So all you would see through the box is the background.
But if you really want this, it should already be possible, suing some userchrome css magic.
Summary: Events should be translucentrr → Events should be translucent
I agree with Michiel in that this would be pretty useless in our current implementation, and I think that on a very populated calendar, this would only make clutter worse. Note how that screenshot is carefully arranged so that the text fields don't overlap each other on the events.

However, this idea might be worth considering once we win the war on boxes (bug 304741). But until we fix 304741, it is impossible to overlap events. Setting DEPENDS ON flag.

Depends on: warOnBoxes
Michiel translucent, I guess would be partial transparency.
Target Milestone: Future → ---
With the current views implementation (non-overlapping), we won't make the events translucent. We might reconsider if the views are changed to allow overlapping.
