I use saved searches for error reports or mailing lists.
I am regularly clearing out the search folder to remove all the emails for that search.
Having the retention policy tab would save me time.

By remove, do you mean delete the messages? Because it's easy to make a saved search not show you messages older than XX days, but you can't make a saved search apply a retention policy, as you say...
