When we open a mail folder, there are two counter on the right of the status bar,
who show the total mail in the folder and the total of unread mail in the folder.

But when we use custom view or the search box, there is no display of the 
resultings mails count.
Neither is it possible to obtain the size of the current selection in the list pane.
I think it would be helpfull to display thoses simple number somewhere in the 
statusbar in replacement of the size of the folder in the first case and in addition of thoses in the second one.

Selection count in status bar was fixed in bug 261512 (trunk only).

Views show the same type of message counts as folders for me. As does search folders. The search results (in the search window) shows how many hits there were (in its status bar). 

That's all, no?

If i select a view in the toolbar (important flagged messages for exemple), the
message list is reduced to a certain number of messages, but the statusbar still
show the total amount of message in the folder.
If i save the view as a folder and i go to the virtual folder, there i got a correct message count.

Same thing if using the searchbox of the toolbar (using Ctrl-K) (i dont use the search window accessible with right-click on the left pane ... and it takes me 
quite a while to find it after reading your message, since this window is 
un-accessible by the main menu which is imho another UI glitch).

Anyway thoses are only little UI glitch but sometimes they would have been most usefull for me, and great news for the selection count patch and sorry for not
being able to find it before reporting.
