User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 I have been seeing frequent lockups in Firefox since I switched to a new Windows Vista PC. The lock ups are 100% consistent in that it locks every time I visit an offending website. I can't see anything interesting about these sites; I visit plenty of sites with Java, media players, etc., etc. all the time. A couple of days ago I downloaded a nightly build and created a blank profile. I went to a couple of sites I had problems with before, with no lock ups. I continued to use Firefox until I got another lock up today. I then created a new blank profile and visited the site and generated several lock ups. Windows error report: Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit offending website 2. 3. The site is a login screen I have visited many times before in Windows XP, in Vista, on Macs, before the new computer, after the new computer, etc., etc. This particular site did not give me any trouble before I got the nightly build, now it's 100% failure. Before I got the nightly build I was also getting these 100% reproducible lock ups but on different sites. http://webmail.neopets.com/ Actual Results: Firefox locks up and must be killed with task manager. Expected Results: This site should display a login screen. As this particular site seems to read cookies from it's parent site (www.neopets.com) I'm not sure if this is a factor. On the other hand, I have seen many lockups on sites that don't have any obvious business reading cookies. Before I got the nightly build and made a new profile this was happening a lot, on a whole lot of sites. You visit the site and it either hangs before you visit the site, or the site is partially displayed and then hangs. The cumulative nature of the behavior makes me wonder if these sites are trying to access cookies or history. I have Mc Afee installed and have scanned with Ad-aware.

The kb comment doesn't seem to correspond to my version of McAfee. VirusScan Enterprise + Antispyware Enterprise 8.5.0i Access Protection has a status of disabled. Opening the access protection tabs shows a bunch of categories, but none of them are "Prevent downloads from the Worldwide web." The access protection logs are empty. I download mp3, exe, etc., etc. several times a day, so it cannot be a blanket refusal to download files.
I have switched back to my "real" profile and the offending site mentioned above is now working. When I generate another crash on this profile I'll let you all know.
More crashing, this time with my "real" profile. Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. microsoft crash reports are useless here, you should provide a Talkback id generated by the Quality Feedback Agent
I gave up on Windows Vista and got my XP machine repaired. The machine in question is now with a relative. If I get a chance I will try it again. I don't remember anything being generated by the QFA. Firefox was completely unresponsive and had to be terminated with task manager.
marking incomplete as you can no more get informations on what was causing that... Feel free to reopen if you catch that up again
