First of all, you cant scroll through a bookmark menu with a keyboard. When it reaches the top or bottom of the menu it will go back to the top of the bookmark list.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a bookmark menu with more bookmarks that what one page can fill.
2.Press up or down on your keyboard until you reach the end of this bookmark menu.
3.the highlight marker will continue to highlight bookmarks till the end of this page and when it reaches it, it will scroll back to the beginning of the list, and doesn't continue to view new ones.

I know you can scroll with the mouse but i like scrolling with the keyboard and i'm sure others do.

Also, the little arrow at both the top and the bottom of the bookmark menu is really annoying, you have to land the mouse exactly on the slim area it's covering to actually be able to scroll. However; this area doesn't seem to include both the very top and bottom of the screen.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.again, open a bookmark menu with a large list of bookmarks that covers more than one page.
2.you'll see a small black arrow at the end of this page of bookmarks that is used to scroll through the list
3.if you touch that arrow spot on it will scroll just fine, but if you touch the edge of the screen (the almost non existant area between it and the the edge of your screen) the bookmark menu will close. which is EXTREMELY annoying of you're trying to do some fast browsing. Users of Internet explorer or any other application that has a menu like this will know what i mean. In internet explorer if your mouse is on the very top or bottom of the bookmark menu it will keep scrolling. this non-existant area should be included in the scroll arrow's surface.

Finally, there is one more bug which recently appeared in the last public version of FireFox. When you open a bookmark menu in a window, and then click on a bookmark that is a few bookmark pages down, Firefox doesn't remember its position. So when you open your bookmarks menu again in the same menu, it will be set yet again to the very first bookmark on the list.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a bookmark menu with more that a page full of bookmarks.
2. Scroll through the bookmarks and click on one of the last bookmarks in the menu (one that wasn't visible unless you scrolled down in the menu)
3. Open the bookmarks menu again in the same window, and you'll see that firefox didn't remember the last opened bookmark, it reset back to the first bookmark

again, this is also really annoying if you're trying to open a few pages that happened to be close to each other a few bookmark pages down, or if you accidentally opened the wrong bookmark after a few secs of broken scrolling. This is also something that other browsers support and should not be ignored.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Expected Results:
1. Scrolling with the keyboard should work.
2. The edge of the screen should be included in the area of the scroll arrow.
3. Firefox should remember the position of the last opened bookmark (or even highlighted bookmark) after closing the bookmark menu.

My firefox version is a clean install, i'm using all the latest patches for windows xp SP2, and have no themes or widgets or any sort of modifications done on my firefox.
I don't know if I understand this bug correctly, but when I have a lot of bookmarks in the bookmarks menu so that the scroll arrow is shown, and when I use the keyboard's down arrow to scroll down, it does not show the hidden bookmarks under the scroll arrow.

With my default set of bookmarks I can reproduce the problem in trunk, in Firefox 2.x, in Firefox 1.5.x, but it works fine in Firefox 1.x.

I never use shortcuts, so I have no clue if there is a "replacing" shortcut for this function or if this is a (new or duplicate) bug.

Changing component to Places, and confirming for the case that no one discovered this yet.

I'll change the component to Places in case this is something new.

The scroll problem is a regression between 2004-06-21 08 and 2004-06-22 08.

Thanks Ria. I didn't find this bug in my bug search before. It's great to know that this issue is fixed.

I will add a comment about this 'bug' though. The bug that I see only occurs when you open bookmarks and then use the mouse to highlight an arbitrary bookmark entry, followed by using the keyboard keys to scroll.

The bug does not appear if you just use ALT-B (to make the bookmarks list drop down) and immediately followed by using the cursor keys. You could also use the mouse to click on Bookmarks to get the list to drop down, and immediately followed by using the cursor keys to scroll. Just as long as the mouse cursor does not interact with the entries in the dropdown list, then the scrolling bug will not occur.

The bug only occurs if your mouse interacts with the bookmark entries.
This bug is not yet fixed :). Updating summary to make this bug easier to find.

If you can reproduce this in the latest trunk nightly with a newly created profile, please file a separate bug for this issue.
