382971 - After upgrade does not report download size when starting download with ZoneAlarm

I upgraded to FireFox 2.0.0.4 on May 31.  I then noticed that when using the FireFox download manager, it stopped reporting the download size as it had when I was using v. 2.0.0.3.  The files are downloaded, but there is no indicaton of how long it will take!

In a related problem when I go to Youtube to see a video, all I get is the source code of the page.  

I did not get either of these problems with 2.0.0.3.  In fact, I have another PC still with the older version and these problems don't show up there.  That other machine also is using Win2000 Pro.

So apparently v 2.0.0.4 is missing the info needed to correctly handle both instances.

On further digging, I found that when turning off my firewall the problems went away.  The filesize when download showed up and the videos on Youtube worked.

I['m using ZoneAlarm Security Suite 7.0.337.000.  When I first installed this firewall (I had been using the free version), I started having the same problems that I describe in the first message. The ZoneAlarm people to uncheck some boxes in the firewall settings and after that then problems went away until I upgraded to FireFox 2.0.0.4.  I inspected ZoneAlarm and found that the setup was still the same, but now I'm getting the problem with FireFox 2.0.0.4.

Apparently, there is some sort of 'disagreement' between the version of ZoneAlarm that I have and the latest version of FireFox.  I cannot fathom what it might be since i don't enough about these systems to begin to make a relevant guess.  

I like FireFox and need ZoneAlarm, so please see what possible conflicts that might be occurring between the two!

Can you indicate certain files that do this?  Sometimes servers don't send this data, so we have no way of know...

It seems to happen to most files that I download.  It's occurred with images that I've downloaded (jpegs, gifs, tiffs... etc.)  I've downloaded some large setup files that were zipped and the filesize was not indicated, also .exe setup files, it doesn't seem to matter so much as to the file type.  I've been downloading from one site in particular and before I installed 2.0.0.4, the filesize always showed. Then when I installed the latest version of Firefox, that's when the problem started, both with the filesize and the videos that I try to watch on YouTube (All I get there is the source code most of the time!)

However, on some rare occasions the filesize was 'captured' and the progress bar showed up, but, unfortunately, I can't remember what the file type was or where I downloaded from.  But, as I said it is a rare event!

I realize that this will a difficult problem to track down, but any help will be appreciated.  It just seems to be some sort of conflict between ZoneAlarm and FireFox, or at least this latest version!?!

I just recently had to renew my ZoneAlarm Security Suite subscription.  I had to download a newer version to renew and the newer version has an identifier of 7.0.362.000.  After the renewal and everything was settled, the problems I had with the indicator while downloading files inside FireFox and the problem I had with YouTube have gone away.  So whatever, the problem i had with the combination of FireFox 2.0.0.4 and the older version of ZoneAlarm has been resolved from the ZoneAlarm side!?!.

That was probably a zonealarm problem, so i will resolve this as worksforme, but feel free to reopen this report if you see this problem again
