User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.12) Gecko/20070530 Fedora/1.5.0.12-1.fc6 Firefox/1.5.0.12 Build Identifier: N/A After downloading and extracting the files I looked for the install instructions - okay, no install.txt it must be in readme.txt. No it tells me to look somewhere else. The web page I am referred to says nothing about installation, dig deeper. Finally a link that says "How to install in LINUX". Oops, it says "After you have installed Thunderbird...". More digging - discover a web page that explains how to install in detail, too bad it is for Windows. Solution - keep using Evolution. My wife often chides me for not seeing the obvious (with good reason) but I really could not find installation for Linux! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

Just tar xfvz thunderbird-xxx.tar.gz and cd to the thunderbird dir. Then you can move the thunderbird folder where you want. Not sure why 2.0 versions do not have any install instructions in the release notes though (like trunk). These pages are the same for ff and tb relase note pages. No notes: http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/2.0.0.0/releasenotes/ With notes: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/3.0a5/releasenotes/#install The release notes should include the installation instructions (esp for linux newbies). ->NEW

Yes, I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to tell a developer to WTFM.

The same problem appears for Firefox 4.0.1, whose file README.txt just send the user to http://getfirefox.com/releases , redirected, as far as I'm concerned, to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/?from=getfirefox where there is no installation instruction at all.

Put them wherever you want, but leaving them out is not an option.
