Having a long line in View Source (thus horizontal scroll bar), I try to select more that is visible on my monitor size, using the mouse. 

However once the mouse reaches the edge of the screen (horizontally), the window won't scroll. So, I cannot select any single line that is longer then the window width. (tested while maximized)

It always happens when I try to go left with the mouse.
It only happens when I try to go right with the mouse and there is NO vertical scrollbar. 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open view source and have a longer line then the screen width.
2.start selecting a single line. move the mouse to the edge of the screen
3.
Actual Results:  
No horizontal scroll as mouse reaches the screen edge. 

Expected Results:  
The page should scroll in all directions

On latest release (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4) - I was able to scroll right while selecting text in the View Source window but not left.

In my tests, scrolling to the right was possible only if there was a vertical scrollbar present. 
If no vertical scrollbar (contents fit in the window vertically), scrolling to the right was not possible as well. 

Russell, did you have a vertical scrollbar?

I tried it both ways.  With a vertical scrollbar, I can select to the right and it scrolls but to the left it doesn't.

Confirmed yours with a small webpage I made without a vertical scrollbar.  Wouldn't scroll when selecting to the left or right.

Confirming on both Trunk and Firefox 2.0.0.4.

Still present on Firefox 3.0.1. It's very annoying; automatically scrolling left doesn't work at all.
