I didn't realize there was a pref for session saving, and I was trying to figure out how to use it.  My only experience with session saving was when Camino had crashed, and it had worked, so I thought perhaps normal usage was enabled as well.  I went to quit and read the message: "You have X windows open. If you close these windows, you will lose any information that you entered in them."

This, to me, implied that I would lose only the information I had entered, but that the pages would come back when I reopened Camino.  This, of course, did not happen, because I had session saving off.

I propose that we change the text of the warning when session saving is off to mention the preference.

We've already had one user report that they couldn't find the pref when they were *looking* for it, which will happen with the number of prefs we have, conservative though we've been.  Mentioning the pref by name would make it much more discoverable.

"Session saving" is a bit of a jargon-y name for it; the wording for the pref itself was fairly carefully thought out at the time we put it in the pref pane. IMO, it's fine that we call it "session saving" on the site -- possibly with more of an explanation that includes our current wording too -- but we shouldn't change the name of the pref in the preferences.

I do think something needs to be done about the on-quit warning.

Fixing the on-quit warning as peeja suggests ("change the text of the warning when session saving is off to mention the preference") would be just another branch in that code, plus new strings for the "session-saving off" case?

Any proposals for the new text (not that we'd try to shoehorn this into 2.0; rather, I'd just like to get our brains in gear).

This bug has been buried in the graveyard and has not been updated in over 5 years. It is probably safe to assume that it will never be fixed, so resolving as WONTFIX.
