Basically, is you try to post a comment, the pop up window's text field doesn't repaint as you type. If you do a command-a to select all, you can see the selection reflecting what should be displayed... but you don't see the text you've typed or edited.
Text fields seem to work more or less elswhere, but they really don't work for the arstechnica forums.. In fact, just typing here, in the bug reporter, the caret isn't aligning with the character types.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type a lot( several lines ) of text in a text field
2. Watch as the caret doesn't correspond to the input
3. Become dismayed as you can't figure out what you're typing.
Actual Results:
I found it very hard to read what I'd typed. Even harder to edit what I've typed, as the caret doesn't correspond to input, and I can't ge t the field to repaint and show me what's what.
Expected Results:
It should behave like a text field should.
Do you have any PC TTFs installed? Off-hand, this sounds like bug 288047.

I do -- I was using Luxi Mono for monospace. I just switched from Luxi Mono to the built-in Courier and all of a sudden the bug is gone.
So, clearly this bug *is* a duplicate. I'm going to mark it as such. Thanks for the keen eye, there.
