Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; Media Center PC 3.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)
Build Identifier: 2.0.0.4.

Thunderbird sent me a message (auto updater) that I could update to v2.0.0.4. I closed all other apps and clicked OK to update. Halfway through, I received an error message saying that some parts couldn't be updated and to close any other apps and try again. And it never changes - in fact it keeps going on and on like that. Now I can't access Thunderbird at all. My computer can't even find it...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. See above...
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Nothing special. It gave me the erro and now has somehow disappeared from my computer

Expected Results:
It should have updated itself... and it should be working now

I have at least a similar case if not identical: Occasionally, when attempting to start Thunderbird, I get a notice that an update is needed (I am using the latest 2.0.0.5). when the update proceeds it stops saying that it can't write mozMapi32.dll. If I try to abort the update it returns to the original note, and the cycle repeats indefinitely. I have tried deleting the file (by moving it away from that directory) but that doesn't work. The only way I can get out of it and get Thunderbird working again is to uninstall and reinstall.
Yep, that sounds like bug 340535...
