Details

It'd be nice if irc.mozilla.org was available over ipv6, but currently it's not. Users on networks that only support ipv6 are therefore out of luck, with no way to connect to the rest of the community. Plus, I'm sure Chatzilla could use some testing.
sand needs an IPv6 address to use, so over to mrz to get one for it. Once one has been allocated, please reassign to me for deployment on the IRC server.

See bug 363349.

This implementation is a bit different that adding v6 to web properties because this touches different network gear. I'd love to enable it on the firewall and allow hosts to autoconfig but I'm not sure if I'm ready or want all hosts to pick up an address (maybe I do, haven't put any thought into it yet).

I may just suppress nd and manually assign addresses.

It's a low priority at the moment.
This is extremely low priority - moving to projects.

Not convinced there's enough end-to-end v6 connectivity for this to really work. Too many consumer grade network devices -assume- v6 connectivity when it's really broken (Airport Extreme is a good example).

Marking WONTFIX because it's a crappy use experience - host OS will stall trying to connect to the v6 address before failing and trying the v4. Same reason I haven't pushed any production websites to this.

Maybe someday, but not any time soon.
