User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 I could only escape it by shutting down the browser and restarting it. If I was quick enough to close the tab before it could begin loading when I reopen the crashed session, I could stop it freezing again, but that was very difficult. Since facebook.com uses some special plugin to upload photos, I think that's what's causing the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to an album you own at facebook.com on a computer that doesn't have the upload plugin 2. Click on 'edit' Actual Results: Firefox freezes. Expected Results: The 'edit album' page should load. Again, I suspect this bug is caused by something to do with facebook.com's upload application.
I cannot reproduce this bug using Vista Business and Firefox 2.0.0.4. I have gone to the photo album editor on facebook. I can add, remove, edit, move photos around with no problems. This is however a fresh Firefox install with a new profile. Could you, Owen, please try starting firefox with a new profile? If you need help with this, just post here and I will gladly walk you through the procedure. Thanks.
Emma and Owen, can you guys post what version of Java you're running? If you type "about:plugins" in the URL bar and hit enter you should be taken to a page that has information about plug-ins. Your version of Java should be listed there.

As an alternative to testing in a new profile, you could start Firefox in safe mode. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode. This will disable all extensions and themes (temporarily) so we can ensure they are not the cause of the problem.
I tried the same procedure in Firefox safe mode and the photo uploader still won't work and it freezes firefox. Then firefox just states it is not responding.

I'm getting this bug too, on facebook and a number of other websites. I'm running Vista (home or whatever), with the latest overnight build (24th October 2007) and a new profile. I'm running Java 1.6.0: Java Plug-in 1.6.0 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper) Every time I go into facebook and try to create a new photo album or edit an existing one, Firefox hangs.
Phewww...I thought it was something wrong with my computer or...something. Everytime I try to add photos in facebook, firefox crashes. I reinstalled firefox, but the same thing happened. Then, I went to the Java website to try and download Java again, and firefox crashed again. I have tried doing both at least 10 times, and the same thing keeps happening.
Oh, just to add, I am using Windows XP.
I am having the same problem. I have to use ie to upload my pics because obviously firefox is not letting me. I would like to know how to fix this because i hate to have to use ie
I am the above comment. I wanted people to know that if you go to google and type in download javascript and download the new version then it will work fine.
I have a problem with the photos when i tag a friend, it takes LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time, anyone here have the same issues?
Demmitri, that sounds like a different issue deserving its own bug.
<<I have a problem with the photos when i tag a friend, it takes LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time, anyone here have the same issues?>> Yep, like 3-4 minutes for a tag. And I'm running MacOSX. It doesn't actually freeze, but it takes so long that I can understand why someone might THINK it's frozen. I switched back to Safari over this issue... I sure hope someone can get it fixed.
Happens on Linux too, with Fx3.5b4 -> All/All.
OS: Windows Vista → All
Hardware: x86 → All
WFM here with current trunk.
