Seen using Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9a6pre) Gecko/2007062504 Minefield/3.0a6pre. I also saw this using Friday's build. I don't have a consistent way to reproduce this, but it happens frequently enough to be very annoying. tchung also just saw it on his vista machine. STR: 1. Open a few tabs. I had almost every major news site open. 2. Switch rapidly between them 3. Firefox freezes, and I need to Force-Quit the browser. In the most recent case, I loaded all the tabs, switched to doing something else on the machine, and came back and had the spinning beach ball. tchung: please add further information to this bug so we can narrow down a better set of STR.
I suspect you suffer from the regressions of bug 367177. Some major sites can cause the freeze because of this. See bug 385681, bug 385365, bug 384836 (this one has a patch that might fix the frequent hangs).
The patch for bug 384836 landed last night. If you're not seeing any hangs in the next few days, we should probably resolve this as WFM.
I have seen this today twice while testing the Alpha6 candidate on the Mac (slow machine). I encountered it after having to close a bunch of tabs. juanb mentioned he had seen something similar on the mac as well but I will let him comment about what he saw.
I assume this is now wfm
