Build ID: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9a6pre) Gecko/20070626 Minefield/3.0a6pre Summary: Should drag and drop/reordering of bookmarks trigger switch to "Unsorted" view to match up with the Bookmarks Toolbar? This might be WONTFIX, but it's good to have it discussed/resolved. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the Bookmarks Manager. 2. In any view but "Unsorted," drag and drop bookmarks (in the "Title" column), and note their position on the Bookmarks Toolbar. Actual Results: Although their positions are updated in real-time on the Bookmarks Toolbar, within the Bookmarks Manager, items remain sorted by whichever current sort view is used. Expected Results: I think it's a valid-enough use case to suggest that we trigger the "Unsorted" view on drag and drop, at least for the Bookmarks Toolbar folder items...

Just to clarify - would triggering the unsorted view mean automatically changing the sorting mode to unsorted immediately upon drag start? That seems like it could be a bit jarring.. IMHO this should be treated straightforwardly - if there's no visual indication that drag and drop is working in a sorted mode, there should be no end effect, either (the bookmark positions /shouldn't/ be updated in real-time).

That seems > like it could be a bit jarring.. That would be totally jarring; I'd expect--at the most--to have it reflect the change in sort orientation post-sort, if this is to be implemented at all. > IMHO this should be treated straightforwardly - if there's no visual indication > that drag and drop is working in a sorted mode, there should be no end effect, > either (the bookmark positions /shouldn't/ be updated in real-time).
currently, drops are disabled in sorted views. Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1b4pre) Gecko/20090324 Shiretoko/3.5b4pre

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
