User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.4 (20070604)

In Outlook I can highlight an autocomplete entry and press Backspace or Delete to remove it from the list, it would be useful if Thunderbird replicated this behaviour.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start typing in To field.
2. Highlight address for deletion.
3. Hit Delete or Backspace.
Actual Results:
Nothing

Expected Results:
Address deletes from autocomplete list / history.
Reporter, do you mean removing it from the auto-complete list ? Like when using shift-delete in Firefox location bar ? That won't work in T-bird because the names come from the address-book (Personal or collected). You would need them from the source (the addressbook) themselves.

See http://marist89.blogspot.com/2006/05/thunderbird-address-book_10.html
I understand that, however that shouldn't be the way it operates. Autocomplete entries should come from a separate cache.
dahamsta, (phrased another way)
do you want certain AB entries to not autocomplete?
would a flag in AB be sufficient?

(Jo, thanks for that shift-delete hint - I've been wondering for ages how to delete that stuff)

Mark,
This has taken on new meaning since all the mozillamessaging.com folks have moved to @mozilla.com. Is there any way in the jury rig address book (other than outright deleting an address) so that autocomplete stops recommending obsolete addresses? Or get to a state more quickly where the newer address is recommended over the old address?
