Thunderbird is adding the email addresses of people or orgs I'm responding to even though I have instructed it not to via the option listed in the summary above. It even adds the email address if I click on a link in the email like, for example, an email from Netflix. I have attempted checking then unchecking but that doesn't solve it.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Respond to an email from someone not in my address book.
2. Click on a link to a web page from some company or organization like Move-ON or Netflix.
3.
Actual Results:
Thunderbird adds the email address of the person or company which I either responded to (or clicked a link) to my address book - unless they are not already in there.
Expected Results:
Not added these people/companies/orgs since I have indicated I do not want the program to do that.
Extensions loaded:
Contacts Sidebar
Cute menus
Update Notifier
each time I send an email to an address not in my address book it adds tha address to the address book. I'm using the gmail optional setup, if that makes a difference

Could it be some extension that is causing this? WFM on tb2.0/windows too.

Bill, are you still having problems with this?
If you are, please can you go to Options -> Advanced -> Config Editor, accept the prompt if there is one, then enter "mail.collect" in the filter, and confirm that the value of "mail.collect_email_address_outgoing" is false. Please also check that ties up with the check box of "Automatically Add...".
