However, it is possible to drop the before the separator. Reproducible: Always

WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007071422 Minefield/3.0a7pre
Strange, it was confirmed by http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=2966811#2966811 But that doesn't matter now. As of Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007071504 Minefield/3.0a7pre ID:2007071504 there's no indicator shown in any case which is probably a regression from bug 243078 or bug 337771.

I was talking about the drag&drop cursor. Confirmed that there is no line drawn above a separator.

Please renominate if this is still being seen, with platform information.

(In reply to comment #5) > Please renominate if this is still being seen, with platform information. The black line that indicates where an item is dropped doesn't appear at all in the latest nightly (actually since the build I mentioned in comment #2). Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007072304 Minefield/3.0a7pre ID:2007072304 Of course, I tested this with a new profile.

I filed Bug 389290 for the completely missing dropmarker. This bug regressed before that though.

Just to make sure everyone understands this bug .... bookmark_1 ---------- (separator) bookmark_2 in the bookmarks menu drag bookmark_2 between the separator and bookmark_1 result: the dropmarker (line) does not appear. Because of Bug 389290 you'll need 20070714 nightly or before to see it.

I don't see a drop indicator in the bookmarks menus no matter where I mouse. Not just around separators.

right.... this initially regressed with the reintroduction of places which broke all dropmarks in the bookmarks menu 20070518_2135_N_firefox-3.0a5pre.en-US.win32 (first places build) it was partially unregressed between 20070520_1339_firefox-3.0a5pre.en-US.win32 and 20070520_2107_firefox-3.0a5pre.en-US.win32 (sorry I have no other builds) http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvsquery.cgi?treeid=default&module=all&branch=HEAD&branchtype=match&dir=&file=&filetype=match&who=&whotype=match&sortby=Date&hours=2&date=explicit&mindate=2007-05-20+13%3A39%3A00&maxdate=1179720419&cvsroot=%2Fcvsroot when the dropmarkers came back, except for the problem described in this bug. looking at the range, Bug 381281 could have been not fully fixing the problem. Reopening that one seems a bit pointless though.

What do you mean Bill? I can't see a dropmarker at all (that's why this bug depends on Bug 389290) in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9b4pre) Gecko/2008021504 Minefield/3.0b4pre ID:2008021504 Hopefully the patch in Bug 389290 fixes this one as well.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
Component: Places → Bookmarks & History
