Coming soon, once we finalize what we want to land.

first draft of relnotes for 1.5.1

We have two outstanding bugs that aren't really relnote-worthy for a security release (bug 382125 and the cleanup part of bug 337750); everything else has landed.

The CJK relnote is verbatim from what we shipped in 1.0.5 (and the ad-blocking note is from ages), but everything else is new. I'm not completely happy with several of the notes, so I expect others won't be, either, and predict changes yet.

I did want to change the "New Gecko version" string going forward from what we used in 1.0.x; I think the new one sounds better (and removes our last use of the hated "Fixed...issue" construction).

first draft of relnotes for 1.5.1

Two separate sentences?

Encouraged instead of recommended?

We got stuck with this text for 1.0.x for localization purposes, even though I'm not really in love with it. How about:

Camino 1.5.1 contains the following improvements over version 1.5:

(I still don't love it, but at least I don't hate it.)

> Alerts and prompts that appear while Camino is hidden will now display
> properly when un-hiding Camino.

"Un-hiding?" I don't know.

> Spelling menu items in the context menu will display correctly in
> localized versions of Camino.

Spelling items in contextual menus will be displayed in the correct language in localized versions of Camino.

> Camino will no longer auto-fill passwords in disabled fields.

Disabled form fields?

> Further improved ad-blocking.

Further than what? This is the only mention of ad-blocking in the release notes.

I'd like something stronger than "encouraged"; we don't want to encourage them to upgrade, we strongly urge them (or something)?

Much better IMO.

"when making Camino active again."?

Good point. Since we're now doing ad-blocking updates monthly (and releasing every two months or so), do we really care about relnoting this anymore?

How about just "all users should upgrade"?

Not that this really matters, but what were the localization purposes?

We could just say that; how about: "now the ad-blocking mechanism is updated for every release"? Which is probably one of the many reasons one "should upgrade" ;)

We wanted to keep the standard "boilerplate" text unchanged within a series of releases so that l10n would only have to actually translate the "changes" sentences, and for the rest could copy/paste existing sentences and just change the numbers.

(That also made it easy for me to write them and Sam to post them on the web, and made the relnotes consistent across releases, too, but the main idea was to reduce the number of new/changed strings l10n would have to handle.)

with changes as discussed

We agreed on:

Camino 1.5.1 is a security and stability update for Camino 1.5. All users are urged to upgrade.

Alerts and prompts that appear while Camino is hidden will now display properly when Camino is made visible again.

Improved ad-blocking.

Additional note to localizers: the "Known Issue" about the CJK fonts has changes to it here (it is the same change to that paragraph as found in the 1.0.5 relnotes).

There is an issue on the following paragraph:

"The following are the major changes and improvements made since the Camino 1.0 release. A full list is available on our website."

The "website" link is pointing to http://www.caminobrowser.org/releases/1.5-complete.php which does not exist. The correct URL is http://www.caminobrowser.org/releases/1.5/
Er, that page is supposed to exist, but you're right, it doesn't (well, http://www.caminobrowser.org/releases/1.5/complete.php is supposed to exist, but in the rush to 1.5 it seems to have gotten left out).

Stefano, go ahead and leave that link as-is, and we'll fix things server-side.

Sam, can you have http://www.caminobrowser.org/releases/1.5-complete.php redirect to http://www.caminobrowser.org/releases/1.5/ *temporarily* (until we get the 1.5-complete changelog up)? I should be asleep already or I'd file the bug myself....
A redirect has been setup. Are you sure it wasn't supposed to go to http://wiki.caminobrowser.org/Releases:Release_Notes_1.5 ?
No, the missing page is supposed to be the 1.5 "complete" notes (compare http://www.caminobrowser.org/releases/1.0/ and http://www.caminobrowser.org/releases/1.0/complete.php); we just never finished the complete notes (changelog) for 1.5. See bug 390250.
