389033 - Explanatory text in Bookmarks Manager search box is not replaced sometimes.

If the user goes to the Bookmarks Manager and plays with the Search settings, sometimes the sample or explanatory text in the search box will not be gray and will not be replaced by text entered by the user.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Start Firefox and choose "Organize Bookmarks" from the Bookmarks menu item.
2. Click in Search box. This clears out the grayed "Search in 'Bookmarks'" text there.
2. In the search box, select "All Bookmarks" as the scope.

Result: Text in search box is no longer grayed out. The "Search in Bookmarks" is black and the cursor is placed at the end of it. Any text the user types will be appended to "Search in Bookmarks" instead of replacing it.

This may be related to bug 389032, since there are other issues with changing scope of searching here.

This was found in Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/200707200404 Minefield/3.0a7pre.

steve, even with a fix for bug #389032 I'm seeing this.  could it be related to bug #387172?

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
