389305 - Autocomplete changes "http://home/" to: "http://www.home.com/"

I (and all users of a "2 Wire" DSL modem/router) must control that router by going to "http://home/" which the router intercepts and provides the control panel for the router.  This did work correctly in Firefox 2.0.0.3 but with the update to 2.0.0.5 the URL is now changed to "http://www.home.com/".  If there is a way to disable the "fixing" of the URL I have not been able to find it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.enter URL http://home/
2.

Actual Results:  
URL changes to http://www.home.com/ and that site is loaded

Expected Results:  
Open router control panel at http://home/

If you type about:config and agree to the disclaimer/warning, you'll find that by entering "fixup" there is a list of preferences pertaining to this issue.

Specifically, if you want to disable this entire feature, just change the value of browser.fixup.alternate.enabled to false.

This fixup thing should only kick in when the hostname entered ("home") is not found...

I am on 2.0.0.11 and setting browser.fixup.alternate.enabled = false. has no effect. Using firefox inside a corporate setting is now very painful with this auto direct feature turned on.
