It seems that users that had profile FBML set from before who then removed the app and added it back are not having minifeed stories generated when they add a favoite. Their profile box FBML is also not being updated.
Looks like the profile box thing was just with Shawn and it's now fixed. Still looking into the minifeed problem - I suspect I will need to patch to log any errors from Facebook that might be returned from trying to publish a newsfeed story.
This is fixed now. Yesterday we made the change to pull images from http instead of https so that they would be disk cached. Facebook's servers that pull images for newsfeed stories weren't following the redirect to https and weren't publishing the story because the image couldn't be found. We reverted to using https, but the netscaler should make up for the lack of disk caching.

I can verify that images are now properly cached, using Firefox 2.0.0.6 on Windows XP SP2, Linux (Fedora Core), and Mac OS X 10.4, using both staging and production URLs. Justin, I'm not sure how to verify the other; I've always seen newsfeeds showing up, but I've added and removed the app more times than I can remember...
The part about removing the app was completely wrong and had nothing to do with it - the only problem was that because Facebook couldn't find the images, newsfeed stories weren't showing up.
OK, cool; verified per my verification steps in comment 3, then.
