User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5 There are 2 issues: Issue #1: A WMV file will not play if you are accessing a file from a relative path while looking at an HTML page you opened from your local computer (File, Open File) Issue #2: Auto re-sizing does not always work properly in firefox, but works properly in IE. The video will get stretched when required, but will not get resized smaller if the player is smaller than the video. Test File:

Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Issue #1: 1. Create an HTML page with a WMV object, linking the file as a relative path 2. Hit Ctrl+O and open your file. 3. The video will not play. 4. Upload the file to an actual web server. 5. Navigate to your page url by HTTP 6. The video will play Issue #2: 1. Using the file template provided in [Details], set the FileName and Src to a file that is larger in height and width than the video player. 2. File, Open File, and select your HTML file. 3. The video is cropped instead of squished, and the media player controls are missing. Actual Results: Issue #1: The video will not play locally, but will play through HTTP. Issue #2: The video is cropped instead of squished, and the media player controls are missing. Expected Results: Issue #1: The video will play locally. Issue #2: The video is squished to the player size, and the media player controls are present. N/A
This is likely a mime-type issue and not Firefox's fault.
