Sorting by Tag-->Color rather than star would be far more useful.

Since it is not currently possible to "sort by color" ,  it would be cool if rather than "sort by star" that you would have a column that would basically "sort by color"  and in that column you could mark with a star and the star would match the color of the message tag.

Do you really want to sort by color, or just by the tag?  It is currently possible to sort by tag.  (If you click the right-most icon in the column header with the tooltip "click to select columns to display", "Tag" is an option.)

If you really want to sort by color, I assume it is because you have multiple tags using the same color.  In that case, it sounds like a better/more-intuitive solution to your problem might be support for hierarchical tags, like proposed on bug 348128.  That way, if you are using "red" for something like "things to do from home", you could instead lump all of those tags under the "things to do from home" tag as children.

we can sort by tag if you add tag to the column headers. so closing this WFM
