User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.6 (20070728) error attaching files when I send or save the message. TB responds: "Sending of message failed. There was an error attaching...." This seems to only happen when attaching to a new message created from a pre-saved 'template' that includes an image that was 'inserted' into it. Of course I do this all the time, so it's a major annoyance. Recreating the template and using that results in the same error, so it's not a corrupted template. This problem did not occur prior to the 'upgrade'. A workaround is to save the file without the attachment, open the draft, then rapidly attach and send the message before it auto-saves. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: == Variant 1 == 1. Create new message. Insert an image into it (menu insert -> image). Save as template in local folders. 2. Create new message from the template and save it. 3. Send message. Error message will be generated on trying to send. == Variant 2 == 1. Create new message. Insert an image into it (menu insert -> image). Save as template in local folders. 2. Create new message from the template. Wait until after the autosave time has passed. 3. Save the message. Error message will be generated on trying to save. == Variant 3 == 1. Create new message. Insert an image into it (menu insert -> image). Save as template, NOT in local folders. 2. Create new message from the template and leave it open. 3. Error will occur when autosave tries to kick in. (if message box dismissed, will recur on subsequent autosaves too) There may be other variants. Actual Results: == Variant 1 == Messagebox: "Sending of message failed. There was an error attaching. Please check if you have access to the file." == Variant 2 == Messagebox: "Unable to save your message as draft. There was an error attaching. Please check if you have access to the file." == Variant 3 == Messagebox: "Unable to save your message as draft. There was an error attaching. Please check if you have access to the file." Expected Results: The file should autosave, or be sent! This bug did not happen in version 1.5.x, only since upgrading to 2.x.
This bug happens frequently for me as well. See discussion in http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=3002618#3002618 Two quick points from that: 1) The error message I get has a space before the period in the sentence: "There was an error attaching ." Suggests the file name is missing. 2) I don't always get the error. But I've gotten it "Sending as new" emails that I had sent before and had images in them. The images always appear correctly in the composition window. Here's a way to make it happen: 1) Open a template with an image 2) Save as Draft (it works) 3) Save as Draft (I get the error) OR Send (I get the error) I had a draft of one I tried to send yesterday that I just noticed. Opening up the draft from step 2 and sending worked fine.
