Details

If a user completes the major update from 1.5.0.12 to 2.0.0.6, when they go to their options/preferences --> Advanced --> "Update" tab and chose "Show Update History", the update to 2.0.0.6 does not display. Instead, the "Update History" dialog shows "No updates installed yet."

This was found on Windows Vista on an admin account on the first run following the update installation. On subsequent Thunderbird runs, the dialog is still empty of updates.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Install Thunderbird 1.5.0.12.
2. Select a test channel with a major update to 2.0.0.6 in it.
3. Go to "Help" --> "Check for Updates" and apply the 2.0.0.6 update.
4. On first run following the update's installation, go to options/preferences and choose the "update" tab under "Advanced".
5. Select "Show Update History".

Result: No updates are listed in the Update History dialog.
OS: Mac OS X → Windows Vista
FWIW, I saw this on XP SP2 as well (so it shouldn't be a Vista-only issue), but I was using mscott's XML file rather than the "real" one.
It's absolutely a dupe of bug 391792, so, yeah.
