Up to 256MB are consumed by the browser. Even with one website/tab open the memory usage is higher that any other previous build. Firefox 18.104.22.168 uses more memory than Internet Explorer 7. This is a big issue for users with limited RAM installed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Firefox 22.214.171.124 2. Go to any website. 3. Just wait a couple of seconds after the site loads. 4. Check Windows Task Manager and the memory usage is high. Actual Results: Same thing. Memory usage is still high. Expected Results: Not used so much physical memory.
Does the same thing happen if you make a new firfox profile for a test? - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manager (Do not delete your existing profile)
Also take a look here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Reducing_memory_usage_-_Firefox Notice that Firefox uses memory to get faster navigation and release that if required by the OS
