Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6

Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.6 consumes high physical memory. Up to 256MB are consumed by the browser. Even with one website/tab open the memory usage is higher that any other previous build. Firefox 2.0.0.6 uses more memory than Internet Explorer 7. This is a big issue for users with limited RAM installed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Firefox 2.0.0.6
2. Go to any website.
3. Just wait a couple of seconds after the site loads.
4. Check Windows Task Manager and the memory usage is high.
Actual Results:
Same thing. Memory usage is still high.

Expected Results:
Not used so much physical memory.
Does the same thing happen if you make a new firfox profile for a test?

Also take a look here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Reducing_memory_usage_-_Firefox

Notice that Firefox uses memory to get faster navigation and release that if required by the OS
