392019 - Browsing www.ftd.de often results in hanging firefix. Only killing with taskmanager gets system back to operational mode.

When I'm browsing on www.ftd.de firefox often hangs and causes the desktop to be completely blocked. I then have to kill the firefox process with taskmanager. This happens on both of my PCs. I use firefox 2.0.0.6 on Windows XP Professional SP2.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to www.ftd.de
2. then click on several links
3. firefox hangs.
Only the start page is displayed every time but further clicking then ends in stalled system.
Actual Results:  
Window and Desktop is frozen. Page is not displayed with content, only window frame header shows heading of new page.

Expected Results:  
correctly displayed page, not hanging system.

This page seems to use a lot of javascript and flash stuff too.
Is your flash the latest version? (about:plugins in the URL bar will tell you what version you are on)

Does trying a new firefox profile for a test change anything?

I clicked on 5 links but I can't reproduce a hang, although I see that the ticker uses a lot of CPU time with every move.

1. My flash plugin is 9.0 r47. This is the current one.
2. When I click on the following link my Firefox hangs

WFM using Firefox 2.0.0.6 on Windows Vista with Flash 9.0 r47. I'd definitely like to hear if this happens with a new profile.

Hello Samuel,

I have made a test with a new profile. I does not change. By the way I'm, using Windows XP Professional. On one PC it is the german edition the other one is UK. The interesting thing is that I really only have such effects on the www.ftd.de website.

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.x or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
