I looked at Myk's Tinderstatus extension at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/832. He has made the source for this available at http://tinderstatus.mozdev.org/source.html. It would be good if there were a line in the description for this. Nowhere in the description on AOM does it point to the project site. Yes, developers can be asked to remember to note it in the description themselves, but if there were a blank to fill out in registering the add-on, it would be more likely to happen. It would also make it easier to find this info in the add-on's description if there was a standard place/format for it.
If someone wants to share their source, they can choose the "Allow users to view the source files online" when they are editing their add-on. That provides a common place on the page, and a common interface when viewing the files. Example here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5326
(Also, it looks like he's already done that for that add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/files/browse/18383 )
Note that you have to be logged in to see the link.
There are lots of people who might want to see that link who might not be logged in. I have a login for AMO. If I knew a whole bunch of things might suddenly appear when I log in, I might do it more. How was I to know? If there is a reason to hide this link from people who are not logged in. If we do not have to hide them, why should we do so?
I don't think this field is needed or would be used much. With the built-in source viewer, the ability to put the link in one of several text areas, and the ability to set the add-on's homepage, WONTFIX.
