this is in follow up to bug 389898 comment 18

20070810 build hangs after retry of failed send message and mail server was down - sort of. I learned later that the server was up, but was not accepting AUTHENTICATED requests. thunderbird smtp set to TLS. thunderbird v2 did not hang.

did not test other trunk builds, so can't say what this regressed from.
Summary: mp → send retry fails if authenticated send fails - trunk
guess this is more properly smtp or nspr
Component: Message Compose Window → Networking: SMTP
Product: Thunderbird → MailNews Core
QA Contact: message-compose → networking.smtp
no trace here.
if someone things this is WFM, feel free to close.
Summary: send retry fails if authenticated send fails - trunk → send retry fails if TLS account and server does not accept AUTHENTICATED request

Version 91 has all new smtp backend code. If you can still reproduce this issue, please file a new bug report https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=MailNews%20Core&component=Networking%3A%20SMTP
