User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.6 (20070728)
Latest version installed this morning (8/18) does not allow old messages that have been read to be hidden from view. Please add this feature back as soon as possible. Going thru newsgroups is very difficult, especially since you can only sort by one type (e.g., can sort by read/unread but then cannot sort by subject or theme).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Menu option under View to hide read messages is no longer available
2.
3.
Expected Results:
Want menu item to hide read messages added back
Never have taken the menu option out.

There are several something something unread menuitems in the View menu, please be very specific about what you see and what you need to happen when reporting bugs.
There is a View -> Threads -> Unread that seems to do the same thing as View -> Messages -> Unread; also, view -> threads -> threads with unread.
The view -> messages submenu seems to only be visible if you have the "Mail Views" item on your toolbar (view -> toolbars -> customize). That might be a bug... though in a way I'd understand a decision to not hide messages without a present (as in not buried in a submenu) ui indication that messages are being hidden. Then again, the View -> Threads stuff does do just that...)

bug 332802 covers the dependency of the view -> messages menu visibility on the toolbar item being present, if your report is about something else, reopen
