Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.6 (20070728)

Almost all icons display as cross-hatched garbage. The images do not render correctly. I search the bug base and could not find anything similar.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I was notified there was an important security upgrade. I upgraded and icons are hosed.
2.
3.

Expected Results:
This was announced as a security upgrade. I was not expecting the interface to be corrupted, especially since I did not ask for the upgrade other than for the checking for available upgrades that goes on automatically.

What a pain. I use Thunderbird because I prefer Open Source and am suspicious of Microsoft software as being the target of security hackers. I don't relish spending hours chasing down stupid bugs that waste valuable time. I am not interested in being a Thunderbird developer, as I just don't have that kind of time. I just want the damn thing to work. Don't even care about fancy new features. Just want a robust, bullet-proof email client that does not break when I accept a security upgrade.
Pretty sure this is another dupe of bug 352694. The problem is likely with your NVIDIA graphics card driver, are you able to update the driver? Another known workaround is to turn down the "hardware acceleration" setting for the graphics card.

Installing some 3rd party theme may also workaround the problem.
