also, not surprisingly, just opening AB and clicking on the same card that contains said note field hangs thunderbird

problem does not happen in seamonkey. hmm. bug 388987 also does not seem to happen in seamonkey.

perhaps related to bug 391839 and bug 388987 (a set of triplets!). However,regression range does not exactly match either of those bugs. Regression using above steps is:
works version 3.0a1pre (20070701)
fails version 3.0a1pre (20070702)

Bug 388987 appears one day later. To these uneducated eyes the two-day regression range doesn't pop an obvious cause for the regression for both bugs. perhaps one of roc's checkins?

no, BOTH this and bug 388987 are gone as of 20070822 build (still broken in 20070821).  too many checkins listed on bonsai to determine the fixing bug, even after some serious bugsearching.  so WFM

Too bad there is no tool/methodology to use the two with each other to narrow searches. Or is there.

just happened in version 3.0a1pre (2007100303)

I had just gone from 20070822, to 2.0.0.6, to 2007100303 - hung on my "edweek" card.
Unable to duplicate from restart of 2007100303.
reopening based on comment 3 so anyone else can look at it, but I have not retested since.

not seen for a long time, and can't reproduce with current nightly (ditto bug 391839)
