Details
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiStats has the details on the setup, which is not as, ahem, polished as might be desired, but I recall getting it running on another wiki without too much trouble.
(It doesn't actually need to run on the same boxes as the wiki, so setting it up as developer-stats.mozilla.org on a separate VM-hosted whatzit somewhere would be just fine.)
We'd like to have this up and running by the end of the month, if possible, so that we can start to do some analysis of the results over September. If that won't be possible, please let us know what the ETA would be so we can try to adjust our plans. Thanks!

Is this a one off or does the whole process need to be automated?
Comment 2•19 years ago

Well, we need to be able to watch stats over time, so if that's what you're asking, it would be nice if it were automated.

Yeah, we need to do weekly, ideally daily, dump-and-run. Sorry, I should have been clearer about that.

Are we doing stats for en only or all locales?

To get you guys started I have https://stats.mozilla.com/developerstats/EN/ set up. I don't have a cron job set up for it yet.

We need them for all locales please.

Stats for all languages are up at https://stats.mozilla.com/developerstats/EN/

The daily visits information is apparently not working; at least, the charts for daily visits show no visits.

I think those stats would come from apache log processing using webalizer. We are already processing devmo logs in urchin.

This is now set up to generate every night at 11.

The page visits tables and charts don't work at present. Also, is there a way to get information about the most visited articles on each language's wiki? I'm presuming that's what the page visits does, but since it doesn't work I don't know. :)

Wikistats doesn't do page visits it looks like that is just a placeholder for webalizer stats. We use urchin and you should be able to find the information that you are looking for at https://stats.mozilla.com/urchin/

Is there a trick to getting urchin to show me something? I logged into it but there are no reports, and I don't see a way to generate one.

Ah, your account probably isn't set up. I'll set it up and and comment when I'm done.
