I have been using thunderbird for quite a while now with no problems. However, when I tried to install the latest update, during the update my computer shut down and I received a message upon restart that there was a fatal error the computer recovered from. Since then I have not been able to bet thunderbird to open. I have tried restarting my computer, reinstalling both thunderbird and mozilla, and deleting invalid paths from my registry. I can't figure out what to do.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Tried to open the program many times
Actual Results:  
The program did not open and the program is not listed under my computer processes (as far as I can tell)

Expected Results:  
the program should have opened

if it installed OK then it's probably a bad profile. work your way through this process

if that doesn't help then you might quicker results in a support forum -

Please report back with your results - don't leave the bug hanging open :)

Unfortunately, this solution did not work. When I uninstalled Thunderbird, my profile was deleted (or at least the folder it should have been in was gone upon uninstallation). So, there is no bad profile for me to work on.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

why/how did computer shut down during update?
what do you see in directory 
and the folders below it?
Version: unspecified → 2.0

Well, I just tried reinstalling the program again and for some reason it worked this time! Yay! Thanks for your help.

Great that your problem is gone, but there are still questions:
1. was your update going from v1.5 or v2.0.0.5?
2. where did you look to find your profile?
3. and since you resinstalled and it is working, did you have create a new profile?
