User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.6 (20070728) If I get an email from "Paypal.com <penis_enlargement@spam.com>" or "Amazon.com <virus@storm_botnet.com>" all I see in the Sender column is "Paypal.com" or "Amazon.com". This is undesirable behavior at best and a serious security hazard at worst. Please add an option to about:config that will enable users to turn this unpleasant and dangerous behavior off. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
The Show Address add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/4121) provides a good workaround. Nonetheless, I maintain that this problem should be fixed in Thunderbird itself. --KEG
Version: unspecified → 2.0
As Kevin says, the Show Address extension does provide a good workaround. However the extension only installs if its maxVersion setting is first changed from Thunderbird 2.0 to, say, Thunderbird 2.1. That's not a reasonable thing to ask of an ordinary user, even if they ever do find the add-on. This problem really does need fixing in Thunderbird itself. I'd do it myself if I knew how.
Basically bug 377036, I'd hate having to have an extra column for this, but the tooltip would be nice.
