This is a tracking bug for mockups of the downloads view of the places organizer.  Due to to the attachment size limit images will be hosted on people.mozilla.com.  Check the most recent comment or URL for the latest iteration.

I haven't created a mockup for this yet, the view will probably be almost identical to history (bug #393511).

Why is there going to be a Downloads view in the Places organizer?  Is it supposed to replace the Download Manager?

The downloads view is similar to the history view, it show all downloads sorted by date range and then site (or vice versa). The download manager will only show recent downloads (not sure what the current definition of "recent" is though)

This will let you do things like "show me all the downloads from domain.com in the month of June."

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
