User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Eudora v. 7.1.0.9 Eudora allows for an incoming mail server user name and password, but not the outgoing mail server -- the assumption is that no user name or password is required for sending e-mail. ATT/Yahoo mail servers now require both incoming *and outgoing* user name and password. Need both incoming and outgoing user name / password for each personality, or at least a place for outgoing user name/password even if the incoming are different for each personalty. I am using a work around as suggested by Eudora support forum -- using a separate personality for only outgoing messages. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Send mail using outgoing mail server: smtp.att.yahoo.com 2.Error message: <Dominant>, Connecting to mail server ... Error reading from network. Cause: connection aborted due to timeout or other failure [10053]. 3. Now setup separate personality to be used for sending mail. Need to set the user name / password for the user's dsl account. Use that personality for sending mail. I called mine "Sending via ATT Yahoo" 4. Error message: Sending via ATT Yahoo, Connecting to the Mail Server ... SSL Negotiation Failed. The connection with the server has been lost. Cause: [5]. 5. Now try to send mail a second time -- works for me. Continues to work until I shut down Eudora. Actual Results: See Steps to reproduce above. The following link is to a discussion titled "Configuring Eudora for ATT-Yahoo secure servers" dated 05/17/2007 describing how to setup Eudora to work with the secure ATT Yahoo mail servers. http://eudorabb.qualcomm.com/printthread.php?t=12490&pp=40
Sounds like you are submitting a bug against the old Eudora, and not the open-source version. The new Eudora allows for setting the username and password for each SMTP server account you create. The old version of Eudora is no longer being developed. Marking as invalid.
