I would like to revert to 1.5.x -- Do I just trash 2.x and install 1.5? Will my
address book still exist? I NEED TO KNOW.

And to answer your question, uninstalling doesn't erase your profile. See <http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird>. You can use your 2.0 profile in 1.5. If there's an incompatibility somewhere, you can always create a new profile and import the settings from the old into the new (see <http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared>). The address book for instance, is the file abook.mab.
